The Education for all medallion or better known as the Equal Education Mandela was commissioned by First National Bank and minted by The South African Mint in 1995.
The obverse (front) depicts the bust of Nelson Mandela, as well as the inscription
"Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela". The reverse (back) depicts a learner at a desk, as well as the inscription Education, Literacy, Achievement and Education for all". Permission was granted for 10,000 tenth ounce, 2000 x one (1) ounce and 50 x five (5) ounce 22 carat gold medallions, to be minted, but it is believed the full quotas of these 24 carat gold Mandela medallions were not minted.
Of the 10,000 tenth ounce Equal Education Mandela medallions which were minted,
5000 were earmarked to be used in jewellery items.
